The end of the world as we know it

The world has been recognizable to people in the United States as a relative constant compared to most of the rest of the world since about 1950. However, between fall 1929 and the very late 1940s the United States and much of the rest of the world was in a process of extreme change to say the least.

It is our fortunate or unfortunate duty now on earth to survive another such extreme transition time. The real problem is no one on earth really understands what the future out the other end of this extreme transition time is. No one in 1929 could have accurately predicted the next 20 years of extreme worldwide transition either.

It's not very likely there will be a world war because of nuclear weapons. a world war would only extinct all or most life on earth and basically take us back to the cave man and woman days.

In December I might have thought it could go differently than this but there now is just so much worldwide momentum to this thing that it is hard to see any bottom anytime soon. As business corporations reduce thousands of employees or go temporarily or permanently out through bankruptcy this only weakens the world banking system more and more and makes it less likely that there will be any easy recovery from this.

More and more it is beginning to look like a world sinking ship. Do we man the lifeboats or start the bilge pumps to pump the water out. right now we are manning the bilge pumps and are trying to believe we can save the world ships of state. Whether that is possible or not depends on what we all decide and when.

The world is not very well prepared for this. People who have been through anything like this from 1929 are either very old or dying and also we live in a quite different world than then so much of what happened then has no real meaning now except for saving your money and getting it out of banks before they collapse. For now, the banks are being propped up by the Federal Government. But if this goes on too long many Governments will collapse and go bankrupt as well.
