Staying Centered

I have a friend who said to me recently that his stress these days is 10 on a scale of 10. He is an investor and he says the stock market is killing him. My wife is calling him every three days or sooner because she is worried.

I told him recently that his home is paid for and that as long as he has food and can pay his taxes on his home he will be fine. I know for many people "fine" is not a word that resonates in the present financial climate.

However, since I learned years ago to fast for up to 7 days with only water, lemon juice and maple syrup to cut the toxins that give one a headache when one doesn't eat for too long. And since I went for 4 days and 4 night without both water or food I learned what humans are actually capable of. It's just that in our culture we just aren't used to not eating for long periods of time like our ancestors were. Even up until the last 110 years ago even in the United States most people didn't have enough food to eat year around and knew hunger when bugs or rats or mice got into wheat or corn or flour stores before the refrigeration in metal boxes that we all take for granted now.

One of the things many people on earth are going to do is to become much more adaptable both physically, and psychologically. It some cases it might be good for people to realize that they are far more capable than they ever thought.

One of the things that makes people feel at peace in the long run is to know they are capable of surviving all this. Actually surviving through all this will make all those of us who physically and psychologically survive this feel much stronger and alive and amazed at what it really is to be human. Those that survive these times with mind and body intact will harken back to their ancestors that survived much worse to get us all here now and have a much greater respect for their ancestors and learn to get back to the basics of family survival and taking care of each other in hard times.
