Potato Scones, Bangers and Beans

Three of the ingredients for a traditional English Breakfast which one finds throughout England and Scotland. Though people often make jokes in the U.S. about English food, everyone in our 5 person group came to love traditional English breakfasts often served as a part of your hotel room throughout England and Scotland. Potato Scones are basically here in the U.S. Potato pancakes that are usually served in a triangle about 2 to 3 inches long on each side of the triangle. Next there are always baked beans that are not sweetened as much as they are in the U.S. which I actually liked better then the U.S. because of this. Next, there are "Bangers" which are Hot dog sized sausages usually that remind me of milder spiced versions of German sausages. Next, there are cooked halved tomatoes which I also really loved. Next, there is toast with marmalade or jam or other preserves. Next, there are eggs cooked any way you want them from Scrambled to poached. Next, there is bacon that is two or three times wider than the way they are cut in the U.S. Next there is porridge, which is a less coarse form of what we in the U.S. call oatmeal. And then they have bowls of different kinds of fruit from melons to apricots to prunes to put on your porridge or whatever kind of cereal you want. And finally there is English Tea that is almost always served with breakfast.  The quality of the food in England and Scotland is much higher than in the U.S.  The only reason I can think of for this is that people take pride in quality food and eating well and the tradition of staying healthy and alive. Whereas in the U.S. often times companies will sell anything even if it is the consistency of cardboard with a food value of cardboard to eat. So, generally food in Great Britain tends to be much healthier in general than the U.S. unless you are shopping regularly at a place like Whole Foods market and are only eating organic every day.

We all felt very healthy and alive as we toured both England and Scotland by bus, rented Car and train, depending upon what was the most efficient and fun thing to do in a given area we wished to see.

Here is my Google maps review of Argos, which is a 30,000 item small storefront where you can order any one of 30,000 items and receive it there at the store within minutes from a warehouseman. I was able to purchase my Garmin GPS within one block of the Raddison Hotel I was staying at there in Edinburgh within about 10 minutes time of waiting for the item to be personally delivered to me in the store:
begin quote from my review in Google maps.

I enjoyed Argos. I was trying to find a Garmin GPS device for my rented Mercedes since the rental place was out of GPS devices at that time. So, I asked at the front desk at the Raddison hotel where the 5 of us were staying and the gentleman there said go to Argos about 1 block away from the Raddison. They have thousands of items you can pick up right there after you order and pick them up. There aren't stores exactly like this in the states and I was impressed with the concept because one could have a small storefront with a warehouse connected and sell thousands of items from a very small space like they do. end quote.
