The Ongoing Problem of the European Union

Do I think that eventually the European Union will become more like the United States. The short answer is "Yes". But then I have to remember the League of Nations that failed the first time out and then of the Second World War and Hitler and Tojo and of Nagasaki and Hiroshima and then finally, the United Nations.

Unfortunately, the European Union looks a whole lot more like the League of Nations than it does the United Nations that has lasted since World War II.

So, I think the European Union in its present incarnation might have a 50-50 chance of becoming enough like the United States to survive and prosper.

I see the primary obstacle to this happening soon is simply History. There are thousands of years of history and centuries of grievances that stand between European Union member countries and becoming a stronger union.

What will it take to go beyond this problem? Likely all suffering together like they are now. What appears to be happening now is that Germany and maybe France hopefully for sure will be able to maintain the European Union in some form until they all suffer enough to band together and create something a lot more like the U.S. This is the only way I can see forward to a strong future for the European Union.

There has to be a way to reach equality between all the nations of the European Union. Until a way is found for equality to be universal the European Union will tend to not succeed fully. This does not mean that all rich and poor people have the same amount of money. No. I'm talking about human rights not money. People have to feel that they have equal rights to become wealthy. So, there has to be equality in regard to education first of all between all the nations. Then there has to be equality in regard to equal access to jobs as long as people are educated for those specific jobs. Also, there needs to be universal places of training that would be available to all nations peoples in regard to jobs all over the European Union.

Once people start to actually feel equal rights wise they will tend to band together more and support and create something that can actually work long term as in 50 to 100 or more years and function more like the United States does with each country like a state with its own vernacular and culture much like we have here in the states.
