Solar Flares and Heart Problems

About 1/2 hour ago my daughter called me from Portland, Oregon and one of the things she said stuck in my mind, "Dad. Solar Flares cause heart problems."

This made a great deal of sense to me because of the health problems since October 8th when I flew from Maui to California on the Mainland. While I was flying I felt very strange and found out later that week that a strong solar blast had hit our magnetosphere while I was flying home to California. I felt very strange from then on. Luckily, I went to see my doctor for another problem and wound up having a heart and carotid artery sonogram. My doctor wanted to see my wife and I early yesterday for a very early 8:15 Am appointment. He was very worried because it appeared my heart was only pumping out blood at a 40% rate. He also said that in the 30s one usually considers getting a heart transplant. So, as I got into the shower after thinking about all these things I realized that I am likely not the only one to get their heart damaged while traveling by air during a Solar Flare hitting our magnetosphere.

Luckily, for me, it was diagnosed before serious illness or death occurred. Also, my wife tells me that 20 to 30 years ago I would be expected to have died from this within 1 to 5 years. Because doctors didn't know yet that the heart given the right medications could repair itself.

So, now I have been put on a modern Beta Blocker and also Lisinopril (a blood thinner and ace inhibitor) and a diuretic because this combination often will allow a heart to repair itself back up to 55% pumping capacity which is a healthy place for the heart to be at my age.

So, if you were flying or felt you were affected by the flare of the 8th or around the 12th to the 14th of October, especially if you were flying anywhere on earth above 20,000 to 30,000 feet maybe you should get your heart checked if you aren't feeling well?

I was thinking about how this could affect the hearts of every living thing that has one on earth when a flare hits our magnetosphere. Here are my thoughts: First, we are totally electrical beings. Our muscles, our brain, and our hearts are electrical in nature just at a very low voltage. That is why we die when hit with voltages above a certain amount because our wiring in our brains and hearts and muscles all short out and we are no more.

But, what is a solar flare as it hits the magnetosphere of earth but a huge jolt of electromagnetism from the sun? So, I was thinking how this might affect hearts is that hearts all beat from a different heart cell each time. This beat is electrochemical in nature from the first cell so a jolt received off time from the sun through the magnetosphere of earth might set a heart off time or cause other electrical problems in the heart especially in an older heart or one that has problems already for one reason or another. So, likely during a solar flare hitting the magnetosphere many people will die or have problems worldwide but not attribute it to the solar flare. So, being aware when a solar flare is going to hit the earth is important to all people with heart problems so they can make it a point not to be flying in a plane when it hits. Maybe they want to be in their basement somewhere to lessen their changes of dying or becoming ill from severe flares?

Also, in my case my doctor said that my blood flow to my brain had been reduced about 1/3 below what it should be. At this level since Hawaii I noticed I was having more trouble processing people talking to me. It didn't affect the printed word but conversation is much faster. Now, with these new medicines to allow my heart to rebuild I notice I have about triple the focus and concentration and feel I have my life back again and no longer have trouble processing people speaking to me at all. So, I now believe this is working to allow my heart to rebuild and to heal itself over time.

A week or so later:
I went to the doctor yesterday to have an EKG and my blood pressure checked. Because I was 120 over 80  in blood pressure by taking these three medicines taking this medicine and my heart is beginning to heal itself and to recover my doctor recommended a heart Specialist, the one who told him what medicines at what doses to give me. So, I was happy that at least for now my heart is rebuilding itself and I don't have to worry specifically about dying from heart problems in the next 1 to 5 years. But, I do have to see doctors more regularly for the next few months.
