The Damage to the FBI and CIA

General Petraeus likely, after laying low out of the public eye for 1 or 2 years will likely become an Ambassador, corporate consultant, Part of a President's cabinet or something like that. Jill Kelley after going Bankrupt will create another life for herself and her husband likely,

  1. Paula Broadwell's security clearance suspended, Army official says

Paula Broadwell, former CIA Director David Petraeus' biographer, has lost her security clearance, an Army official told NBC News on ...
    end quote from Google.
Paula Broadwell it is difficult to say what will happen to her. General Allen it appears didn't have an affair with Jill Kelley because most of the 20,000 to 30,000 pages were between his wife and Jill Kelley.
So, I would say the long term real damage is to the U.S. services of the FBI and the CIA and their working relationship. Likely now, less will (willingly at least be shared between these two agencies) and it is possible that the U.S. and it's peoples will be less protected from outside and inside harmful influences as a result.
So, the innocent reaching out to a friend in the FBI by Jill Kelley to protect her from an unknown (assailant) (She didn't know it was a woman or an American or an Officer). Her reaching out for help caused this sequence of events. Likely Jill Kelley only wanted to stay alive after the emails. But we all know what happened.
So, I think the most important thing here is: "If the head of the CIA has to resign over something like this, how out of reality is the present system?"
Because whether someone is faithful to one's wife or not shouldn't be a prerequisite for much of anything but likely causing a divorce in some situations. When someone is as valuable to the whole world as a General Petraeus or even a Bill Clinton (or a JFK, an FDR, an Eisenhower, MacArthur, Patton, etc) one has to wonder where all this ends?
Fidelity in the end is only a privacy issue. When it becomes more than that it interferes with group survival in many situations. Would you fire a Churchill in the middle of world war II? The same with Eisenhower, Patton, FDR, MacArthur? How ridiculous would that be?
If we act this way now is one way for another country to defeat us to publicize a real infidelity of a necessary General or Public Official during a time of crisis or war?
I think we need to think long and hard about this one!
