The president of the European Parliament, Martin Schulz, has said he is "deeply shocked" by allegations that US intelligence services have been spying on EU offices.
A report in Germany's Der Spiegel magazine claims key offices in the US and Europe were bugged.
Journalists at the publication said the information was leaked to them by fugitive ex-CIA analyst Edward Snowden.
Mr Schulz said: "I am deeply shocked because I think the United States should treat the European Union not like an enemy."

I sort of feel this is a case of "The pot calling the kettle black". All countries and nation groups have always spied upon all other nations and groups since beginningless time. To say anything else is to be disingenuous to say the least. What it may mean only though is that the person making this statement was simply out of the loop in the ways of "Plausible deniability" which reminds me of why U.S. Presidents since and including Kennedy have all been kept (out of) the UFO information loop here in the U.S. since 1960.
