If and when Shutdown Occurs what will happen?

National Park visitors won't be able to go to them and all park workers won't be working there during the shutdown for ALL National Parks (Also likely park workers won't get paid for lost time).

800,000 government workers will be furloughed (for how long?)

Government backed home loans delayed (for how long?)

It was said on NBC Nightly news that the total amount of time the government shutdown in 1995 and 1996 was 3 weeks.

This shutdowns and cancellations in 1995 allowed me to get married in Yosemite National Park (normally I would have had to wait for about 1 year) at the old Chapel there, get rooms for our wedding party at Yosemite Lodge and a night or two for my new wife and I at the Awanhee Hotel that Queen Elizabeth II and John F Kennedy and Jacquelyn Kennedy also  stayed at in the past.

However, when we went to the Big Island of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park shut down unexpectedly for us then in December 1995 before Christmas so we never went there until 2005 with our kids then.

So, if you have plans to visit the National Parks you might want to put them on hold, especially if you are coming in from another country until this is all resolved one way or another.

We were able to spend two weeks on Three Hawaiian Islands and return before Christmas then in 1995.
