A $300 3D Printer?

Awesome $300 3D Printer from PrintRBot Maker Faire 2013 ...

click above word button starting with "Awesome" to hear about how this $300 3d printer came about.

A guy has built a functional 3d printer  he is selling for only $300  (go to printrbot.com)so now you will see hobbyists all over the world begin to buy these things too. Also, he talks about mostly being able to replicate one printer with another one (most of the parts) so it might be possible to make one printer from another one (sort of).

He says at the time of the making of the video he has already sold 5000 of them.

Printed on a Printrbot Jr., Yoda (http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:10650) at 0.3mm layer height using PLA.

After seeing this I'm seriously considering buying one myself just like I bought my first TRS-80 4k computer in 1978 and then later my IBM Clone AT computer with an Epson printer in 1987 for around $2500. At least then I could experiment with this new technology and understand it better. He says it is all open source software so that reduces expenses a lot too as long as you know how to access open source software. So, you might have to be a little techy to pull this off still.
