What is Spirituality?

It actually has nothing at all to do with any church or religion. Though people in churches and religions can be spiritual many are not. Many people just go to church and pretend they believe in God and whatever that religion believes in because it is socially convenient. I would say maybe 75% of people who go to churches because their parents sent them there are kids are like this. People who join churches as adults would be different than this. But, for people who are "culturally religious" only having been raised in that church and no other, most don't really believe any of it (unless they have a really bad mental or physical experience) and their belief structure and the people in their church help save their lives.

So, spirituality can be found in people all over the world, especially in people who live close to the earth like Farmers, Shepherds, forest people, desert people, surfers, hikers, walkers, runners, and many other types of people. However, what they have in common is a direct experience with nature and God to the point where they experience the natural  rhythms of life. By experiencing God and nature directly both nature and God may speak to them directly with or without a formal religion. In this sense they begin to become their own prophet and to some degree their own Jesus or teacher.

So, though they might seek out teachers more advanced than them on the path they might not as well.
This is the best way I can describe how spirituality forms in people. Likely, to some degree this was Jesus' experience as well as he came to love mankind and all beings growing up in Israel 2000 or more years ago now.
