You can just see Woodie Allen the atheist and his mind working overtime with this one. His humor is working 1920s style. So, he is old enough to have met people who lived in this actual time as a young man. I remember them too. So, I remember people who still thought this way when I was a child too.
To see the eternal question: "Should I just kill myself because the world has no meaning, or is there something more?" which is an age old question and people answer this in all kinds of ways all over the world since beginningless time.
So Woodie makes us all laugh at ourselves and whatever our answer or answers are with this one.
And all the Gurus have always said: "If you cannot laugh at your own existence you will never become fully enlightened."
So, Woodie gives us a good laugh to send us all on our way.
