More regarding the Homesman

If you haven't seen this movie yet you likely shouldn't read this if you are going to see it:

This movie affected me a lot. Because you could feel the reality to this film. Living in sparse conditions by young women not acccustomed to this spartan way of life with likely no friends or anything to read nearby likely just shorted them out. Their men "having them" sort of like they are masturbating more than anything else with no foreplay or anything else and then getting pregnant and putting their babies down the outhouse makes sense too for women just not prepared (in any way shape or form) for actually being mail order brides in reality.

It makes you think about how important an education was for women in this century and of how many women (including my mother's mother) both 1888 in PHiladelphia suffered when she was kicked out of grade school at age 8 for being dyslexic. (I don't think they had a name for it yet. Likely, they just told her she was stupid which is what they did then.

Then the nice single lady(Hillary Swank) who travels with the crazy women and Tommy Lee Jones (that she rescues from a hanging) is slowly driven insane along the way by first being told she was too plain to marry by someone she wanted to marry and then being told by Tommy Lee Jones she was also too plain to marry too. She visits him naked and demands he take her sexually (because she is still a virgin at 31) because she is a good Christian woman in 1854 still. He takes her gently (you can tell he is somewhat of a ladies man for time times) and then because she can't have him marry her she hangs herself during the night or early morning.

This movie kicked the crap out of me with it's raw reality of the times. To say it is a cowboy movie is an insult to the movie. It is Historical fiction. That's the best way to put it and why Meryl Streep has a cameo and so does James Spader in this movie. A truly amazing movie and not just a feel good unrealistic movie. Great Work from everyone!

If you really want to understand how far women have come in the U.S. watch this movie.

The Homesman is a thoroughly depressing experience with little energy. The idea of throwing a feminist and a curmudgeon on a road trip is inspired.

Also, you notice the critics liked it 82% but it wasn't unrealistic enough for good box office.

Whereas I thought it was a truly amazing movie and likely very much like those times in the behaviors of people in the wilder west of Nebraska? then in 1854, well before the Civil War.
