This is a fascinating account of how two Gentlemen, one a chemist and one a doctor brought forensic medicine into New York and through New York to the entire United States in the early part of the 1900s up through about 1930 or after. They changed the way deaths were investigated. Before, bribery was mostly a part of suspicious deaths. For example, if your father, brother, cousin or love died mysteriously, people paid coroners before this who were never (or almost never doctors) to cover up what actually happened before this Doctor and the chemist changed everything there through forensic investigations through the courts.
