A Directed EMP Device?

If you could focus your EMP generator to fire in a more specific direction like a gun it might be possible to design such a device to use sort of like a Gun which disrupts only a specific section of the sky above you. In this way you could bring down drones without disrupting or destroying thousands or millions of dollars worth of electrical equipment like Cell phones, cars, refrigerators, trucks, TVs computers etc.

So, I'm thinking if it is possible to direct an EMP ONLY at a section of the sky where an armed drone is located, that this might be the weapon of the future in stopping small or large drones from hitting with bombs and missiles or gunfire from small terrorist drones around the world.

Since people are now being killed regularly in Mosul in Iraq now by various kinds of small drones being used as a launching platform for missiles and bombs, we can all now see worldwide why police and armies are going to need this type of EMP Gun disruptor to  bring down drones specifically out of one or more sections of the sky.

However, you wouldn't want to also hit something accidentally like a passenger jet or friendly fighter jet or they would fall out of the sky with everything electronic dysfunctional too. So, one would have to be very aware what exactly would be in that region of the sky they were pointing at.

Though you could also launch a stinger type of missile at such a device, this might be hard because small drones don't have a heat signature to speak of for such a small missile to lock onto. Also, these stinger types of missiles might be 100,000 dollars to 1,000,000 dollars each or more and this isn't cost effective to bring down a 200 or 300 dollar drone with such an expensive missile.

If you were a good marksman with a scope you might shoot such a drone out of the sky with a well placed bullet that hit a rotor or engine or battery or electric motor too. But, if you have ever tried to shoot at a flying bird very high this is very very hard to do without a shotgun and a shotgun isn't accurate very high either. So, this is unlikely to work for most people unless they are trained snipers with a sniper rifle and scope setup.

Also, if you have to shoot a lot of bullets in a city area where there are a lot of people, any bullet that doesn't stop in the drone would come down somewhere and hopefully not just go through the top of some innocent person's head.
