This is the kind of tale that might scare a child. However, little ones below 5 or more likely shouldn't be walking in the forest alone for various reasons anyway. By age 5 I was allowed to go most places with another 5 year old but we often took BB guns and slingshots for shooting rocks and BBs at anything we were concerned about then. So, knowing what a forest is and what to do with it and to not go wandering if you don't know how to follow landmarks back to your beginning location so people don't have to send search parties out after you when you get lost from not knowing where you are.
So, this is a scary but entertaining adventure likely targeting children that are too young to be in the forest alone.
But, my wife and I found this in 2008 when we saw this at a theater to be very entertaining too. So, if you are old enough this isn't a scary movie it is just entertaining because you know what a forest is and how to deal with it.
Myself, I love walking alone in the forest with my dogs sometimes better than anything. IF you are intuitive the trees and the whole forest speaks with you. Sometimes they share things with you very important too because they see the universe from a different perspective than we as humans do. And sometimes they ask questions too. The more honest you are with them the more honest they will tend to be with you especially if they consider you wise and looking out for their best interests as a forest.
The best way to see a forest is as a family of trees that you can get to know over time. If you are a good friend to them they will be a good friend to you too.
