We landed in Heathrow Airport and flew to Edinburgh in 1999 and we rented a car there which with Jet lag you have to be very careful of because I wasn't right for several days and almost had accidents driving on the reverse roundabouts there. So, give yourself a break at first because driving on the left side of the road with your rear view mirror to your left because you are on the right side of the car takes a lot of getting used to even if you are a good driver here in the U.S. I also thought shifting gears with my left hand was pretty strange on the manual shift rental car which is much more common in Europe in General because the gas is about 10 dollars a gallon then often even though they are selling it to you in liters.
I particularly like Aviemore in the Caringorms because I loved the mountains, rivers and lakes of
Scotland and I also loved Edinburgh Castle and in London I like the Tower of London which is amazing too.
Loch Ness is quite beautiful which is near Inverness in Scotland which is in northern Scotland. I also have driven to Findhorn and Aberdeen in 2011 to stay with my wife's friend and her family there.
But, it's better if you are not driving around a big city like Edinburgh or Glascow while you are extremely jet lagged as that could be fatal the first few days you are there, especially if you are from some place that people drive on the right side of the road normally. So, give yourself some time to adjust to all the many changes including culture shock.
Also, in Scotland (and also some places in England) you aren't going to understand some of the dialects at all. It's almost as if they are speaking a foreign language if you are an American, Canadian, Australian, New Zealander or from East India.
To the best of my ability I write about my experience of the Universe Past, Present and Future
