metamorphosis. There have been many times the US has been through Metamorphosis in the last 100 years. Let me list some of these. There has been a long term metamorphosis from such things as the gasoline and diesel engines in vehicles on land and sea and gas and jet engines in the air. And then there are what I call:

Decade Metamorphosis.

1900 to 1910-Being shocked that Airplanes work and that horses are basically out
1910 to 1920-World War I and the 1918 Worldwide Influenza Pandemic
1920 to 1930-The Roaring 20s
1930 to 1940-The Great Depression
1940 to 1950-World War II and 100 million deaths or more from the fighting
1950 to 1960-US last 1st world country left standing after World War II
1960 to 1970-incredible prosperity from being the last 1st world country standing
1970 to 1980-Sexual and social revolution worldwide-less likely to be a nuclear war
1980 to 1990-Severe Recession-Collapse of Savings and Loans, Collapse of Soviet Union
1990 to 2000-a Relative Golden age after suffering from the cold war since the 1940s
2000 to 2010-military financial overeaction to 9-11. near bankruptcy of the US
2010 to 2020-Reality check from everything that has come before

Viewed through the filter of past metamorphosis it is much easier to make sense of what we are entering into now. Basically, the US financially overeacted to terrorism because of how relatively easy the 1990s were compared to what had come before.

The problem is that our overreactions to 9-11 could in theory throw our nation into complete bankruptcy. However, since we are the only nation that could actually lead an actual war in an emergency against China or Russia, soon the world will come around and to their horror realize that we are all that stands between them and being taken over eventually by China or Russia and then they will help us once again and get over their fear of the United States as a nation.
