four airlines stop flying in last month

four airlines stop flying in last month. Three American based airlines and one Hong Kong based airline stop flying during the last 30 days. Subway, Aloha, ATA and now Oasis out of Hong Kong. Since they cannot pass enough of the increase in fuel costs on to passengers they had to stop flying.

My personal experience was that before these airlines went down friends of ours went to Maui from California for 600 dollars a person which included flights, nice hotel and compact car for 5 days. When we tried to create a duplicate trip after Aloha and ATA stopped flying the nearest deal at the same travel discount company was 1700 dollars per person for the same thing. Since we could not justify 5000 dollars for 5 days not including meals and trinkets we decided not to go at all. Multiply this by thousands or so and you get the impact on Hawaiian businesses dependent on low cost flights. With the disappearance of all these airlines many other businesses will suffer as well worldwide.
