Ubuntu: The essence of Open Software

Ubuntu is a linux based miracle of a software version. It is doing for operating systems what Firefox did for Browsers. Though you might have to be somewhat of a Tech like my son to install it alongside XP either through partition or side by side, my son says he has never seen any operating system like this ever. Since it is based on open architecture linux he says it is the single most amazing operating system he has ever seen. It is designed mostly to run partitioned in a PC environment mostly and works well alongside XP in particular.

My son was telling me that just as Vista is the most inefficient operating system he has ever seen because it is based upon the same krnl used to run the XT PCs first built by IBM in the early 1980s, each level of windows is built upon the previous one since then and it tends to get extremely wasteful using memory.

He tells me that Ubuntu in its various versions(each addressing a slightly different purpose) is as streamlined as Vista is ultimately top heavy. He also says he believes that open source software might be the future of all operating systems eventually. The reason for this is simple. First of all, people who write source code(programmers) for open source linux based systems aren't paid for it(usually) so they do it for fun in their spare time.

No one company even microsoft could afford to pay such programmers to do what they do for fun and to say they participated in the coolest operating system on earth. So, these thousands of programmers at home or in universities around the world are having a blast designing and helping each other design the coolest operating systems on earth mostly for free. Free for them and free for you to use(if you are tech savvy enough to know how to install it or know someone who is savvy enough who will help you install it.(I suppose you could even hire a tech to put it on your PC desktop or laptop alongside your XP or whatever operating system you are presently using.

The above website will tell you what you need to know to get started. Good luck. If you are a tech or not my son says you will be amazed at what ubuntu can do for you!

PS Sunday 1034am pst:

I just talked to my son and he says there is an add-on program called 'wine' that can emulate older windows programs so you can run some of your older games that you can't run on newer windows operating systems. So for the gamers of now antique PC games this is also good news.
