Note: Though I want to take time off from one type of blogging I want to continue with what you might consider to be more fictional. Whether it is fictional or not is debatable just like historical fiction. Like, for example, "Australia:The Movie" is historical fiction, it tells the story of everyman(everywoman) in Darwin and the outback during that time 1939 to 1942. So in that sense it tells a relevant story of that era and of the kinds of people(all types) that existed during that time. Likewise, what I'm trying to get at through intuitive heart and brainstorming a more useful dialogue that might help us all see better how to help to create a viable future for ourselves and our children and grandchildren here on earth. end note.
Let me introduce Ragna, who I see as a reincarnation of my father who passed away in southern California in 1985. I miss him always because he was always larger than life to me, sort of like John Wayne. He was strong and wirey and slim 6 foot 2 1/2 inches tall and very intelligent. You could look into his steel blue eyes and know there was a lot going on. He was a joker and men on the job always enjoyed my Dad's humor. He was an Electrical Contractor. He was always making fun. He was a man's man. But he was also very opinionated and people in general loved my Dad or they hated him, one or the other. He was definitely not a diplomat like me.
FICTION?
Ragna is a man of the future, a time traveling General who actually lives around 7000 AD near the Matterhorn on the Swiss Italian Border as we reckon the world today in 2008 AD.
Jonathan is Fred's alter ego from present day earth born 1948. Ragna was told by his now wife, Elohar(King Interlakens Seer and psychically endowed psychotherapist), that Jonathan was his and her son in a past lifetime. So they both visit Jonathan regularly now in the past as a form of renewing family and communion.
On this visit Ragna came to visit Jonathan. Ragna was very concerned about the present changes on earth and was concerned about the period between 2008 and 2050. The two of them begin to discuss these problems now.
Jonathan was walking his dogs in the Pine forest near his home on the coast of California and found himself suddenly in the Timespace ship often refered to as "The Awesome". It is about the size of a fairly large motorhome inside. Since no one could see it from the outside and no humans were within about 1 mile everything was fine.
After greeting each other Jonathan sat down in the main living room type of area in the ship. Ragna was looking at security cameras in a 360 degree array. He had to set them up in case anyone walked near. He didn't want anyone to accidently walk into the side of the invisible ship and get a concussion. So he set up an alarm that would go off if anyone came within a block or so of the ship. The Ragna sat down in the living area with Jonathan.
Ragna said, "Jonathan, son, you look troubled."My father's spirit is around you today, Ragna." Ragna said, "Some days I can remember being your father, even though it was a completely different world than I grew up in this time. I'm much more organized in my present life in a completely different way than your father was."
Jonathan said, "Yes. I understand that. I'm troubled because of all the economic changes. I found out today that recyclables have dropped in price that recycling may stop soon and recyclers might go out of business before the prices go back up much like the big three Automakers."
Ragna looked at Jonathan and just laughed for a while. Then Ragna said, "I'm sorry, Jonathan. It's just that I have a whole different perspective on it having come from the future. Everything is changing in your world and this must be sort of horrifying for you. It's your world. It's like when Elohar and Ragna came to you all messed up when King Interlaken's Palace had been destroyed by a meteor in an interplanetary war. Our whole world had been destroyed in our minds at least. It took you sort of an outsider in that world to see things rationally and to tell us what to do next. Do you remember what you said to do?"
Jonathan said, "Yes. I do."
Ragna said, "What was it?"
Jonathan said, "Well. I said you needed to go back in time and rescue the King and the Royal family before the war meteor hit the palace."
Ragna said, "And what did I say?"
Jonathan said, "You said it was against the law to do that!"
Ragna said, "And what did you say."
Jonathan said, "I said 'who cares if it is against the law you need to do it!'"
Ragna said, "And I realized you were right! Then, listen to me now when I say this to you. Absolutely everything is going to change in your world within 100 years. There is almost nothing that stays the same. The amazing thing that this is accomplished without a major war, although there will be small ones between starving nations. However, one way or the other the big nations find a way to remain peaceful with each other because, after all, since they all have nuclear weapons now, what choice to they have. If one big nation uses nuclear weapons then two or more will to. It is in the nature of things. Nuclear weapons will only bring peace or the annihilation of Earth. There is no middle ground! But most importantly, everything you have known for the last 500 years is about to change in a relatively radical way. Over the next 100 years things will change so much that you won't even recognize the place in some ways. Communication between people who were born when you were and future humans will even be difficult because of the radical shift in perception of everything."
Ragna went on,
"There are only two times that things have changed this much since the early 1900s. The first big changes were the automobile with gasoline and diesel engines then asphalt and cement highways alongside of the Wright Brothers and motorized flight, alongside nuclear submarines and aircraft carriers, then Space ships to the moon."
"The second big change like this was the Great Depression caused by the collapse of 1929 which collapsed the financial world worldwide. The resulted in the creation of Hitler, who was a World War I veteran and World War II, Pearl Harbor and all the rest and finally Hiroshima and Nagasaki. If I were to give you what will happen now it is more like what happened with the automobile and motorized flight. Only this time it is in the direction of wind and solar and ocean power and micro-miniaturization to take advantage of doing more with less power. New ways will be developed for people to make things at home so things don' have to be shipped. More people will grow their own food locally, any way they can. Recycling water for individual homes will become more commonplace as water sources decline. Desalinization will become the primary source of water and taking water out of the air will be the primary source of drinking water in humid areas."
"Most of all, attitudes will completely change. The middle eastern countries will still pump oil it's just that what will be done with that oil will change from burning it to making nylon, plastics, tires etc. They too, will wonder why we ever burnt the stuff when it is so valuable for other things."
"More and more people will telecommute instead of driving to work or taking a bus, subway or train. More doctors will operate on patients from home through robotics. More doctor patient interviews will be online with a live camera view of the patient with only a nurse present and the doctor observing."
"Farming will be done more locally by the neighborhood and people will volunteer their time to help grow the food for a neighborhood. The amount of time donated will determine the amount of produce received at the harvest. Food will be processed more at home once again and not in factories because factories tend to waste energy as they usually aren't efficient enough for the way energy will be conserved in the future in order to stop global warming."
"Everything will have to change in the way it is done so that the surface of the earth doesn't become completely uninhabitable for all mammals including humans. Everything that humans do will be toward the end of keeping the surface of the earth habitable for humans and as many other native species as possible."
Jonathan said, "I was afraid of that. The world I knew growing up and living in will be completely gone then?"
Ragna said, "Yes. I'm afraid so. However, you are one of the many visionaries that will help enough people see a potential future, a potential way to keep humans and other mammals able to still live on the surface of earth."
Jonathan looked thoughtful and said, "I've seen visions of some of the things you are speaking about, Ragna, just not as concrete as you speak of them. They are more inklings of what is coming more than anything else. I know, for example, that at one time in the past the average temperature at the north pole was 74 degrees farenheit, so I know this could happen again! And that time it took 1 million years of ferns from the north pole to the equator to eat up enough carbon dioxide to bring the world we have lived in now for several thousand years."
Ragna said, "Yes. I think this is actually helping."
Jonathan said, "Thanks for talking to me Ragna. It's a lot like talking to my Dad when he was still alive."
Ragna smiled and said, "It could be said that your Dad still lives in me only in the future not the 20th century."
Jonathan sort of looked off into space. This was a lot to take in knowing the world he had come to know would soon be another one. . . .
