40% of Humans are Different Learners

You may or may not be familiar with the worldwide fact that around 20% of the population of earth is dyslexic. However, likely you are not familiar with the fact that the other 20% are ADD, ADHD and various other factors that contribute to different learning.

Public schools tend to only address the 60% who are not different learners unless they are forced to by your testing your children by accredited testors. Doing this in the United States costs about $400 to $1200 usually. However, for example, in the state of California if you pay to test your child yourself then the public school system is required by law to help you teach your child and to compensate for this difference. So if you suspect your child is a different learner then please find someone to help you pay for this private testing so your child can get the help he or she needs to succeed in life.

Let me tell you a cautionary tale. Between 70% to 80% of the inmates now in prison are different learners driven there by public school systems. I will tell you the way it happens and it is not intentional. Just because a child is dyslexic doesn't mean they aren't very intelligent. So when a learning difference child is shamed like a regular child into performing it has the opposite undesirable effect. The child is ONLY humiliated and eventually wants revenge from constantly being humiliated in public by the teacher. This over time creates anti-social criminals from otherwise beautiful kids who are intelligent but different learners and cannot learn properly the way public schools around the world are organized at present. So until worldwide public school systems learn to properly teach ALL children this problem will continue to plague all societies worldwide.

Most people are not aware of this problem and because of it their children suffer unimaginable harm at public schools worldwide if they are in the 40% category of different learners. If your child is in this category it doesn't matter whether you know it or not his or her public school is unintentionally destroying his or her future right now. Only you, the parent or guardian can save him or her at this point by either teaching him or her yourself or having your child tested to see which kind of different learner he or she is. Once you define what the different learning needs are of your child then you can move toward creating a more useful outcome for your child that will enable the child to have a good and healthy future.


My son, for example has a tested college IQ of about 150. However, he had a very hard time when he entered college because he couldn't spell. This aggravated English composition even though he got straight As in things like Science and computer programming. But because he couldn't also do well easily in English classes because of spelling and composition he never finished college in his twenties. However, when he found out in his late 20s that he actually had an IQ of 150 he returned to school to become a nurse. If he could have found all this out earlier he might be a doctor by now at age 35. Instead in his twenties he became a computer repairman and T1 and T2 installer for businesses. By his late 20s he said he was tired of fixing computers and wanted to fix people instead after several close relatives died. The trauma of their deaths in his life made him want to learn how to save lives.

When my son was growing up I noticed he was very quiet but also a very kind and lovable child. When he was about 8 or 9 he got interested in role playing games. So he bought the best books on the subject and constantly asked me what any word he didn't know was until he had mastered them all. So, through his hobby he learned to read quite well. This eventually led to reading many fantasy and science fiction books which he continues to do. However, he wasn't diagnosed properly as being a dyslexic child until he was in Junior High. Though he still made the honor rolls sometimes in Junior High School, English spelling and composition was very difficult for him to master. Now, he has learned he just has to spend two or three times as much time if he is taking an English college course than most other people to get an A in the class. So, when he returned to college to become a nurse in his 30s, he knew he was dyslexic and also knew he had an IQ of 150 and so he knew in his heart that he could do anything he put his mind to.

However, if I had been told all this when my child was being born or a toddler then his life might have been very different and I might have found a way for him to succeed earlier in life in the way he is now. This is why I'm writing this article. So that you can make a difference earlier in your child's education than I could with not enough real and important knowledge of what was going on.

However, since no one in my family admitted to me that they were dyslexic I had no idea that my son was dyslexic. Finally, when my Mom was 82, 15 years after my father passed away she admitted to me that she and her mother were dyslexic. She said she hadn't told me before because of the stigma in her era and before that was attached to being dyslexic. She said one had to keep this kind of thing secret because people in her era didn't understand. So now, I have had three children and 2 of them have been dyslexic. One of the best schools for different learners in the world is Chartwell School in Fort Ord, California. This school is so superior that even the Education Ministry from mainland China came there during a science fair because they wanted to build about 15,000 of them in china from the ground up. The school also has won awards from the California Governor and President Bush for being one of the Greenest Schools in the U.S. So, it is not only one of the best schools of learning for all kinds of children including different learners, it is also setting the example for schools around the world in regard to being solar powered and in its design.
