end quote form wikipedia article on Alvin Toffler
For me, Alvin Toffler was incredible in his prescience in the book "Future Shock". I think it is this book more than any others he wrote that influenced the modern educated Chinese man and woman and now their children.
I too, was influenced a lot by this book and by Megatrends and by Megatrends 2000. When I look at U.S. citizens I think that not enough Americans and their children took seriously what Alvin Toffler was writing about back then. When I look around me today I think that the personalized "Me" culture is the result. Until American youth once again see that we as Americans are all in this together and that we in the U.S. all rise and fall together and that unless we All make the United States Immortal and eternal every day it won't be. Without enough of us seeing the big picture and acting like we actually care the United States will be gone tomorrow. Or is it already gone and we all are just witnessing the last gasps?
