Like any new technology it can be addicting. My son was telling me from his own experience and from what he is reading as well that the IPAD is very addicting. He said that the best way for it not to seriously interfere with your sleep cycle is to not to take the thing to bed with you. For example, a laptop computer is kind of awkward in bed to use. So even though you might surf the web or write something short you are very unlikely to fall asleep with it in your lap.
However, with the IPAD you can use it lying down and not only can it keep you awake but you can fall asleep with it in your hands with yourself plugged in with earphones or not.
So, especially if your child or teenager wakes up in the morning still holding the IPAD or with ear buds still in place and also with an IPAD in his or her hands then you might need to talk to them and set some useful boundaries regarding their IPAD so it doesn't interfere with school, homework or sleeping enough. The same is true of your spouse so they don't lose so much sleep that they can't function right. So, especially if your child or spouse has demonstrated an addictive personality regarding technology be especially careful regarding the IPAD because going to bed with an IPAD is an easy comfortable thing to do and if you lose too much sleep wasting time on an IPAD the rest of your life may suffer.
