Iceland President warns of impending eruption of Katla volcano

2nd Iceland volcano issues ominous warning

Note: to read full news  article click "warning" above.

begin quote:
Icelandic President Ólafur Grímsson has warned governments around Europe that a significant eruption at the volcano is close. "We [Iceland] have prepared ... it is high time for European governments and airline authorities all over Europe and the world to start planning for the eventual Katla eruption," he said.
end quote.

The news article is dated May 27th 2010.

Since Katla is ten times bigger than the Icelandic Volcano that is erupting now, Europe, the East Coast of the United States and the whole world may need to get ready for major temperature reductions within a few weeks to months after it goes off. I think I read a quote regarding one of the times Katla went off that the Mississippi River Froze at New Orleans one of the times Katla went off.

So strange weather in europe all the way to the Mississippi River and all over Europe might accompany the ten times larger Katla if it blows soon. Since Katla has gone off within a few months or years every time the Iceland volcano going off now has for several hundred years or longer, likely it is only a matter of time before the ten times larger Katla blows if history is the guide.

Second Iceland volcano 'could erupt' in near future

The second article I found on the Katla volcano can be reached by clicking "could erupt' above.
In this article they speak of "charged particles found in the ash that could shock passengers if it is sucked into the ventilation system in passenger aircraft.
