The hacking of your car's computer could be done by anyone skilled enough to  even while your car is in a parking lot somewhere or even on the street or in your garage or while being worked on by someone. This is a relatively new problem being discovered by scientists who realize how cars could be used (and might have already been used) to murder people by remote control.

The whole point of this research is to inform people so that they demand more security and protection from potential fatalities and injuries from all car manufacturers if car manufacturers are going to continue to put computers in the cars and trucks they build.
