MegaUpload's Owner Faces Charges in Court
PCWorld
- - Here is the problem as I see it. I have written before on how representative governments and the Internet are not compatible long term. And we are beginning to see why in real time. Representative Governments worldwide do what they are designed to do: They represent the people of their countries. Whereas, the Internet because of potential Anonymity, is like a ghost Mob of Vigilantes potentially. What do most representative Governments do with Mobs? They disperse them as best they can. Only an online mob is Not Gathered in any particular place or even any particular country in the world. So, now you have an anonymous ghost mob that assembles only in consciousness through symbols transmitted over the web. So, what do you think will happen when anonymous or any other Hacktivist group keeps shutting down Government web sites? The likely response will not be what hackivists want. If attacks on government web sites continue the likely outcome will be more parts of the Internet shutting down. And I think Megaupload likely was a repository of large files for Wikileaks and or Anonymous for there to be the kind of reaction to the shut down of Megaupload. Since megaupload was 4% of the Internet and since I don't think governments or hacktivists are happy or are going to be happy we likely will see more of the same of shutting down sites and attacks on government sites worldwide. What do you think?
