Lincoln MKX AWD
We went to a snow area and decided to rent an AWD to be safe in the Snow. However, the car rental yard couldn't find a regular AWD that would fit five people that is good for the snow. So, we wound up renting a Lincoln MKX AWD. It reminded me a lot of a 2WD Lincoln Aviator we owned around 2000 to 2003 but I think because of all the luggage in the back I found it wanted to fishtail a little on the freeway with 4 big adults and all their airline luggage and all. However, the radio has no knobs at all and you run your fingers along a lighted stretch to set the volume which I found a little difficult to do. The other thing I noticed was when you turn the turn indicator on the arm swings back to neutral so if you aren't used to that it can take some getting used to. And you no longer have an actual key for the car but only a fob with buttons on it. So if you walk up to the car it will automatically unlock the drivers door if you grab the locked door handle from the outside and it also has a combination lock for it if you want to program a code also. Though we mainly got it for the AWD SUV component it says it gets 19 mpg in the city and 26 mpg on the road. So, it is an interesting vehicle to drive for now. It is very different from the Diesel Mercedes that we rented in London when the 5 of us drove to Glastonbury and Avebury in before boarding the train in Bristol to head north to Edinburgh to see the Edinburgh Castle and to rent another Mercedes to drive west to Loch Loman and North to Loch Ness near Inverness and then over to Findhorn and then over to visit friends who live in Aberdeeen, Scotland. We also, visited the Cairngorm Mountains and Reindeer and the Funicular Train up to the top of the ski lifts there back in October 2011.
