Listen to Your Heart: It's Good Karma

When I think of a spiritual ideal world that each and every one of us create by our thoughts and actions every day, the one thing that is universal is that when people listen to their hearts enough good things happen and when they don't neutral to bad things happen. It's really as simple as that. And beyond that as you get used to doing good things more good things happen both for you and for everyone else around you. And living from your heart becomes contagious to everyone else that sees the good results of what you are doing.

The next step is moving beyond idiot compassion to what is called "Right Mindful Compassion" which basically translates to "Learning to be as efficient and wise in every compassionate thing you do for yourself or others." Idiot compassion might be defined as, "Doing things that really aren't safe or efficient for the giver or the receiver of the compassion." So, idiot compassion might be defined as self-destructive compassion both to the other and to oneself.

So, the first thing to do is to engage your heart if you feel safe enough in any particular situation. And the second thing is to engage your mind and your common sense. If you are simply overwhelmed by the need of someone and want to help, often that can be used against you by a desperate person and then you both suffer. So, learning to become compassionate in a truly efficient way might be one of the most important lessons anyone ever learns in life.

Because there will always be beings in need, and if you want to help these beings that is admirable but then how are you and they actually going to survive all this? So, in listening to your heart, don't forget to engage your common sense and your mind to help serve your heart in all this good work.
