Hillary Clinton Takes responsibility for what happened in Libya?

Who is responsible for what in Libya?

begin quote:

Clinton ONLY said: “I take responsibility. I’m in charge of the State Department’s 60,000-plus people all over the world, 275 posts.

end quote from:

Who is responsible for what in Libya?

Hillary Clinton is head of the state department and in the end she is responsible for the safety of all the 60,000 people all over the world including Ambassadors, their assistants and their protectors whether they are Marines, Navy Seals or CIA or whatever. So, what does that really mean?

What it usually means (especially if you watch a true movie like "Argo" which is in the theaters now if you are interested) that the world is not a safe place. But, in order to have relations with the world risks have to be taken all over the world. And even though Christopher Stevens was the 8th Ambassador of the U.S. killed on duty in a foreign country it has been many many years since the last one.

I think what it means is that so many variables changed in Libya that our people couldn't keep track of all the variables changing fast enough to protect our Ambassador there. This should be an object lesson regarding Yemen, Tunisia, Egypt, and every other Middle Eastern Country since Arab Spring began with a Tunisian young man who set himself on fire to protest the theft of his livelihood in supporting 8 people in his family.

If you look really carefully at what precipitated the Arab Spring the Tunisian incident was literally like a match that set it off. But the primary cause was people under 30 not being able to have decent careers, get married or to be able to feed themselves properly throughout the middle east because of a bumper crop of people under 30 trying to survive any way they could.

So, the risks haven't diminished because Libya, Tunisia, and Egypt and others are free countries. They have actually increased because there are no dictators left there to keep order. And if there is one thing the world needs to know it is that democracy is always very messy. Dictators create order and death but democracy that actually brings rights is very messy and often people die in the process of creating and sustaining democracies. Seeing Christopher Stevens as the victim of a fledgling democracy's inadequacies  is much more realistic than any other assessment I can think of.
