I would say the single most important thing about 2012 is that you and I survived it. But then, when we go beyond that a lot of things changed. For America, George Bush likely will be the last American President that is Republican unless the Republican party completely changes into something else between now and 2016. For me, this is significant because it will completely alter the fabric of American political life ongoing. So, whatever comes now will be significantly different than the last 100 to 200 years of American Politics Presidentially speaking because of permanently changing demographics. By 2043 White people will be a minority nationwide. But it has already been that way for some in many states including California.
The second thing that is important is "We Survived the End of the World!" How many predictions of the end of the world have we survived already?
But, it remains to be seen whether we will survive our fiscal cliff as easily as we survived December 21st 2012.
Some of the many other important things about 2012:
What happened and is happening now in Syria, Egypt, Libya and throughout the middle east ongoing.
Social media and all the good (and the bad) that it does likely is only going to increase. Though releasing the names of registered gun owners back east was a really bad and stupid idea, likely this kind of craziness might not be over yet.
What do you believe was important about 2012? Why not blog about it?
