After reading how the Government of China is now advocating UBUNTU as it's free open source Operating system choice, will it now become the world's choice for an operating system? On the one hand China has more people in it than any other nation on earth followed closely by India. So, when I look at China as a corporation rather than as a country (which sometimes is useful because China tends to operate more as a corporation than as a country) I think this is very possible that UBUNTU will tend to become a more worldwide system just because of that.
Even though it will be set up to operate in Mandarin Chinese, translation of these characters into any other language now is pretty easy with things like Google Translate and Google Translate clones worldwide. Also, China will tend to develop this free source open ended language and create all kinds of drivers and accessories to it in all directions. So, within 5 to 10 years we will see what the rest of the world chooses to do.
One of the reasons it was said that China chose to do this is that they no longer wanted to be dependent upon close sourced American based operating systems. Also, they have always sort of liked Linux based systems anyway.
