The magnetic field of the Earth largely deflects most of the charged particles emanating from the Sun, thus protecting it from this solar wind. These particles would strip away the ozone layer, which protects the Earth from harmful ultraviolet rays.[3]
Calculations of the loss of carbon dioxide from the atmosphere of Mars,
resulting from scavenging of ions by the solar wind, indicate that the
dissipation of the magnetic field of Mars caused a near-total loss of
its atmosphere.[4]

My thought is that if we are presently in a "Geomagnetic Excursion" then it is possible that the real cause of the depletion of the Ozone layer is the stripping away of the Ozone Layer by the solar wind. This also took place on Mars which might be one of the reasons the humanoids (our ancestors) had to leave there too. However, my question might be, "Did the stripping away of the ozone layer and magnetosphere of Mars have to do with humanoids like us living there and using electricity? Or did the stripping away of the Magnetosphere and Ozone layer from Mars have to do with other more natural not human causes?
I don't know if anyone has an answer to this next question: "Is the potential Geomagnetic Excursion we appear to be in since 1900 caused in any way by the populations of humans on earth or is it a natural occurrence or is it both?" The reason I'm asking this question is if humans or humanoid ancestors of us once lived on Mars, Mars has it's ozone layer and magnetosphere basically stripped away too. What caused this? Did humanoid life or the technology they developed speed up the stripping away of the magnetosphere and ozone layer? If so, are we through technology and over population combined committing suicide as a human race here on earth and thereby necessitating colonization of other planets for the human race to survive?
