Sunset on Shasta
I was really tired from driving from Portland to Mt. Shasta yesterday but I looked up at the mountain and saw it was going to be a really beautiful sunset because of the new fallen snow from 10,000 feet to the top at 14,161 feet. So, I called some old friends at asked them to drive up Everitt Memorial Highway to the top of the pavement at around 8000 feet at the old Torn Down Ski lift of the 1950s and 1960s. When we arrived there there was Japanese tour group amazed at the beauty of the mountain at sunset. It was a little windy and the temperature was dropping so it was already 46 degrees Fahrenheit and dropping for the night at that altitude. So, we put on ski hats and jackets to take the chill off. Amazing clouds made the sunset beautiful in a mystical way and as I looked up into the sky I felt the sky open up and God take me in once again. This mountain is truly one of the Special mountains of the world. It is often known as the Mt. Kailash of America.
