A Mafia doesn't do capitalism or democracy very well

McCain's comment that "Russia is a Gas station masquerading as a great country and run by a Mafia" illustrates the economic problems that Russia is having. Obama says that Russia is invading Ukraine out of weakness not strength. I agree with this assessment. If Russia was strong it wouldn't need to secretly invade Ukraine and Crimea with their spies ever since the Olympics ended in Russia.

If Russia is weak it is caused by having a corrupt government similar to the one during the Soviet Union. With Putin in power democracy is sort of in a coma in Russia and on life support. If it is up to Putin democracy will die sometime in the next few years along with capitalism in Russia. Most people who want both democracy and capitalism left Russia for Europe, the U.S. and parts unknown long ago already. Because democracy and capitalism likely aren't going to work in Russia as long as Putin is in power at the very least.
