- Wily Coyote and Road runner most of us grew up watching in cartoons. But basically the word wily means "skilled at gaining and advantage, especially deceitfully. So, how I would describe a coyote in behavior is a cross between the behavior of a fox and a wolf except not nearly as big as a wolf but much bigger than any fox. Most coyotes are under about 70 pounds and on average probably between 30 and 70 pounds on average maybe at about 40 or 50 pounds.
