Ebola Cycle From the CDC

 Most people see Ebola as only a human disease. However, it has spread through bats and other animals migrating from Africa as far as the Philippines and into China. However, as far as I know there haven't been animal to human transmission in the Philippines or in China. Though it is theoretically possible to eliminate it from humans that likely won't ever be true for migrating animals and birds.

So, possibly how this present outbreak began was a bat biting an animal that was then eaten by a human or touched by a human in some way.
