However, I saw a close circuit video of what happened. The 18 year old black man pointed a 9MM Gloch? at the officer who runs backwards, falls to the ground and shoots three times at the man who pointed the gun at him. One of the three bullets strikes the young man and kills him. 

 So, the officer shot in self defense after the gun as pointed in a threatening manner at him.
