Senate approves 1-week stopgap DHS funding bill

It looks like the House and the Senate have okayed a Department of Homeland Security funding for another week. How nice of them!

The previous bill that went down to defeat is a blow not only to Republicans (for anyone to take them seriously) but also for Boehner personally as House Republican Leader. It's debatable at this point at least whether he remains House Leader after that.

If Republicans cannot demonstrate that they can lead likely Hillary will win in 2016 even though Jeb Bush might be the next president too possibly because he isn't so conservative as to make that impossible to happen.

Late Friday evening, the Senate passed a stopgap bill that would fund the Department of Homeland Security for one week. The deadline to fund the department expires at midnight Friday.
