What are the long term affects of legalizing Marijuana upon a Society?

I got to thinking about this and this is what I think:

I think you might have added creativity to some degree in artists and musicians.

But, you likely will have less productivity in people like inventors and builders of new inventions.

Because the states of consciousness that people get into often don't translate well onto plans to build whatever they might think is wonderful at the time.

But, for the average person, though people will generally be less violent than while using alcohol so less people would die in this way, people generally speaking would be much less productive as a society.

This is my thought.

So, as a society we might be much less competitive in the world as marijuana becomes legal and this might create the military or economic defeat of the U.S. at some time in the future. Because people would be so introspective and not watching outwards at what is going on in the world around them that the U.S. could be defeated at some point in the next 100 to 500 years as a country here on earth.
