But, there are times in life if you don't have the discipline to go on and stay on a diet that it can cause health problems like diabetes or others. I find myself in that predicament myself. So, a no carbohydrate diet is recommended so I don't eventually get diabetes. However, a few years ago I realized I was allergic to Gluten (about 40% of the people on earth are). So, after almost dying a few months ago with a Burst appendix and a laproscopic surgery that saved me, I decided I needed to eat Gluten too for awhile until I could create a better balance of foods for myself. However, now I'm remembering that if you got hypothyroid from Giardia in the 1980s like I did, then you have to watch out for Auto-immune diseases which means gluten might throw me eventually into an Auto-immune disease which is one of the things that can happen in this sequence of events. So, I found myself really frustrated today because I don't like eating meat because I was raised a vegetarian. But, after about age 50 it is difficult to get enough protein so you aren't energy depleted without some kind of meat in your life. So, unless you are a supercalifragilistic dietician with unlimited funds it is difficult to get the right proteins for your body to prosper.
So, I guess my frustration level with trying to find a balance I can actually live with in my life where I don't feel like I'm in some kind of dietary prison from now on is what I'm struggling with now.
Finally, I told my wife today that trying to figure all this out and to stay alive and healthy has become sort of maddening at this point. She pointed out that there was a bag of lentils I bought from Whole Foods that I hadn't made yet so this made me feel a little better as I started them on a boil. So, at least for tonight I will be okay.
For "Tomorrow is another day".
Note: Lentils are a bean and a protein source but not a grain or carbohydrate. Beans in some ways are also a carbohydrate but generally process in your body differently than a carbohydrate does so they can be helpful in trying to get away from carbohydrates, just like you can also eat nuts like almonds, cashews, and other nuts. But, you can't eat too many nuts because this can also make you constipated. So, finding the right balance of both nutrition and staying regular is helpful. I recently started eating a few prunes every day. My doctor says he eats prunes and lifts weights too. I only lift weights about every other day to avoid tearing down too much. So, when you lift it tears down a little but if you only lift every other day it can build you up in a more smoother way with less pain. So, by lifting every other day when you are over 50 it helps to maintain your muscle mass without being in pain all the time from trying to maintain it. Walking is important too. So, for me, I take my dog every day I'm here either to the beach or into the forests near my home for a walk for exercise.
