Judy Blume: Young adult and children's author

I was listening to Judy Blume talk to day on an NPR Radio interview on the way over to wash my daughter's car and wax it. I found her interesting because she spoke of an event back east where 3 planes crashed near where she lived in 1951 and she used this experience as a basis of one of her books. It rang true to me because of how children and women often were not told anything much about events then that might be (Scary) because that was how the culture was then. (I guess only men were allowed to get PTSD in 1951). But, they didn't even call it that then. It was called at best "Battle Fatigue".

And still the saying was: "Do what you can and the rest can"

    In other words stuff it.

"Which is why so many died so young from "Stuffing it" then of both sexes.

"Stuffing it also meant, "Don't ask questions" and "Shut up!" So, if you weren't asking questions and told to shut up whether you were male or female many people just died or got injured and were maimed in this kind of culture.

So, when she was in junior high the boys thought that UFO's had caused the plane crash and some of the more intelligent girls thought that Sabotage was behind the crash of the plane. This reminds me a lot of the time when kids were supposed to be: "Seen and not heard" which was a byword of the 1950s along with always being respectful to your elders whether they really deserved it or not.

I also think her most popular and award winning book was:

Which seems like a pretty nice book the way they talk about it being written.
It's about a girl who is moving with her family to another location in the U.S. and worried and talking to God about it.
