WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States believes that Russia has started carrying out air strikes in Syria in the vicinity of Homs, a U.S. official told Reuters on Wednesday, adding that Moscow gave the United States a one-hour advanced notice of its operations.

The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the information on the air strikes was preliminary and declined to give any details, including on the number of strikes or the aircraft used.

The U.S. military's Central Command did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

It is as I thought. Homs is a pro democracy Sunni area. So, Russia is not attacking ISIS but civilians likely in Homs who are Sunni. This is only going to create more Sunni Refugees and kill people who want democracy in Syria and also kill people who want Assad dead and out of power. It also will kill U.S. trained militants fighting Assad.

Since Assad bribes ISIS to kill Moderate Sunnis who want democracy in Syria too this makes complete sense to me. (even though it is very sad for Sunnis in general in Syria). No wonder millions are leaving or have already left Syria.
