Another Storm to hit SF area Tomorrow

We are supposed to get rain tomorrow as well as high winds in this area. My Santa Claus was blowing in the wind this morning in my front yard so I went out to secure him better since he is going now 24 hours a day through the Christmas season. We drove back from Disneyland yesterday. There was drizzle and some rain and about half the way the roads were wet so people were driving more carefully.

We were really surprised (even with all the rain caused accidents on freeways in the Greater Los Angeles Area to scream through to where Malibu Canyon interesects the Ventura Freeway heading north by noon. Most of the time now traveling north from Southern California we have stopped going up Interstate 5 over the grapevine because it is now faster for us to always go up 101 usually now to the Bay Area for some reason. I think it might be because some of the areas around Interstate 5 are getting more and more developed once you get over the grapevine into the Lee Vining area and further north. Also, during the winters sometimes Interstate 5 becomes dangerous with snow or closes completely so you have to be aware if snow is coming down on the grapevine too.

Also, especially in the summers the coastal route on 101 is much greener and cooler and it is safer because if you are in 110 or 115 degree weather going up Interstate 5 in the summer and your car breaks down you are less likely to survive this on 5 than you are on 101. So, it is a much more pleasant experience I find going up 101 now if your destination is a coastal one from Oxnard to San Francisco if you go up 101 over 5. Very seldom are you going to experience 100 degree Fahrenheit weather going up 101 unless it is in Astascadero or Paso Robles on your way. So, most of your trip is cooler because you are right next to the ocean and sometimes this is very beautiful especially from Oxnard to Gaviota north of Santa Barbara and also the Pismo Beach area north of the Dunes where people take sand vehicles like ATVs and off road motorcycles into the sand there on the dunes.
