A Custodian of wealth is not asking to BE wealthy. Asking to Be wealthy is a different thing but also may happen to a person who is a Custodian of Wealth.
Most of my life I didn't want to be rich because I saw what it did to most people. It's why Jesus didn't choose to be born rich even though Buddha was born Rich as a Prince of Lumbini and his father was a King of Lumbini on the border of what is now Nepal and India.
So, basically I met a lot of rich people working with my father in his Electrical Contracting business in Los Angeles County from the time I was 12 to 17 summers when I was off from public school in Glendale. So, I met a lot of movie directors and producers and actors and actresses that we worked for a lot putting what was then called St. Charles Kitchens. We were the electricians they called for these jobs. And the kitchens were more expensive than most houses were in Los Angeles then.
So, I met a lot of really rich people in Beverly Hills, Bel Air, Brentwood and all sorts of wealthier places in Los Angeles from 1960 to 1965 when I was 12 to 17.
During this time I decided most rich people were really difficult people to work for so I didn't want to be rich like they were then. However, most actors were amazing people, however, later I realized actors can act and be anyone they want to be because that is what they do for a living. So, are they nice or are they just acting nice? Hard to say.
So, I decided I never wanted to be wealthy and treat people the way most rich people did then that weren't actors. Actors always acted nice and wanted you to be there fan then in the early 1960s.
So, I got into a difficult divorce in my early 40s and it scared me because it seemed to late in life to make this big of a change to me and successfully survive it with one's emotions and head on straight.
So, I prayed to God to make me a Custodian of Wealth. I said to God from raising kids and running businesses that I had the skill to be one of God's Custodians of Wealth.
So, this is what happened because I have that kind of relationship with God where if I ask for something strong enough it happens.
However, I have learned throughout my life NOT to ask for anything except in an emergency because literally EVERYTHING changes in your life. So, if you aren't prepared for everything changing in your life it is quite a shock to go through.
So, I became a Custodian of Wealth but I had no idea really what wealth was all about and didn't even like Wealthy people at all from my previous experiences with them. However, my parents had been ministers so I was used to knowing how to talk to them in a skillful way even if I didn't like wealthy people then.
However, as I started to learn more about wealthy people and having to meet people worth 10 to 100 million dollars I began to realize that they are just like everyone else on earth except usually more intelligent and better educated. That's the only real difference I found. There are just as many really good people in the upper class as there is in the Middle Class and lower classes. They just understand things a little differently.
So, here is the difference for me personally. A good example of this was when I didn't have much money but owning land and raising kids like a middle class person I didn't always then have insurance on my car or motorcycle because it wasn't required by law yet that I did.
But, after going into a Custodian of Wealth mode I find I have to have insurance for everything because of liability. If you want to keep your Custodian of Wealth status so you can help more people in your life it is really a whole lot of work to do this. It is not easy to maintain and to grow wealth so you can use dividends and interest to help people in various ways personally and through non-profits as well as pay for your own expenses.
However, I think the rule of thumb now is that if someone is worth more than 5 to 10 million dollars no matter how wealthy beyond that someone is, people all tend to have the same sort of problems form 5 million dollars up. This is what I have noticed.
Often people won't date out of their class because of liability if they are smart. Someone I knew wouldn't date any women unless they were richer than he was. And he had 8 girlfriends before he died at about 90 who were all wealthier than he was. When you surround yourself with people of your own class you are less likely to have problems with them because they have the same kinds of concerns and problems that you do.
Dating someone not in your class often is a disaster on multiple levels for a variety of reasons.
So, anyway now I see all classes as the same. And strangely enough after growing up Middle Class I now see the very poor and the very rich tend to be like two sides of the same coin with many similar problems.
Often rich people were once poor and figuring out how to maintain and grow wealth multi-generationally is one of the very hardest things to do and often takes 3 generations or more to learn effectively. And even then when laws change this can be very difficult to keep up with. So, many people change countries because of this as the laws change so they can stay wealthy for 100 years or more through multiple generations.
For example, the problems in China now are causing many Rich Chinese to move to the U.S. if they invest around $500,000 here in the U.S. they can get a Green card and live the rest of their lives here if they wish because of all the severe economic problems gripping China right now in a somewhat similar way they did here in the U.S. starting in 2007 to around 2012.
So, what is being one of God's Custodians of Wealth?
It is something people become more capable of in their late 30s and early 40s and then continue to do this the rest of their lives. Part of it is becoming knowledgeable about non-profits and what they do and how you can help people in various ways. If you look at the Gates Foundation it is one of the pre-eminant non-profit foundations now on earth with investments into it from people like Buffet now as well as Gates and his wife.
