This virus is now spreading quickly throughout the Americas and into the southern States of the U.S. as well as Mexico. It appears to be a pandemic at this point. How it started is difficult to say, but the result is thousands of underdeveloped fetuses in pregnant women with babies who will never have normal intelligence with smaller underdeveloped heads.
And this could also spread north into the rest of the U.S. and Canada by Summertime as these types of mosquitos move northward with warmer weather. So, this is not a good time to get pregnant for women this year for a variety of reasons. However, I think so far only between 4000 women and their babies have been diagnosed with this virus so far. It doesn't seem to do permanent damage to other people who get it just to pregnant women and their fetuses.
