I never fully "Rewilded" and it wasn't called that around 1980. Instead I bought 2 1/2 acres of land and built an A-Frame at 4000 feet and home schooled my 3 older kids who are now 42 to 45 years of age and all successful college educated people. However, I did do a 4 day (96 hour) vision quest of no water or no food which is something native American Tribes have been doing for 15,000 or 20,000 years already to ask for visions of what to do with their lives. I found all these things very productive. After about 5 years of this and I figure we saved about $60,000 dollars in rent by buying land for cash and building our own home off the grid, we moved back to the SF Bay area and bought another business. Though I also must say my now ex-wife and I were never happy again after we left the idyllic life on the land out in nature at 4000 feet on the side of Mt. Shasta. So, by 1994 we divorced because of leaving the "wild Country and nature. But, we moved to the San Francisco area because our kids wanted to go to school again when the oldest was 12. So, we did what they needed and eventually divorced because of it.
One caveat for today however. Building your own home like this after buying land is much more expensive now than then. So, what we did isn't really possible in the same way now because it is so much more expensive.
However, I still advocate a life with no mortgages or payments of any kind on credit. Because all the incredible interest you save you can be traveling the world with or putting money away to send your kids to college with or whatever you want. Don't be a slave to debt the rest of your life.
Being a slave is never worth it.
