Power went out from wind and rain (from Atmospheric river hitting NorCal)

we had just sat down to watch a movie on Amazon Prime through our Roku on the big screen in the living room when the power went out. We all laughed at the impeccable timing of all this. We continued to laugh as the power went on and off and on and off for a minute or two and finally died for the last time. So, since it was beginning to get darker I decided to roll out the 100 foot outdoor extension cord to my motor home to turn on the generator for a few hours. So, even if power if off to the whole area I can have the generator on from about 8 or 9 am to 8:30 or 9pm at night so we don't lose all our food. Also, it can run one lamp in the kitchen too. The only thing we don't have then is an oven and central heating but we have a fireplace and wood always for emergencies like this. Also, power outages don't usually affect Gas for a stove (as long as you buy a gas stove top that you can light with a match). If you ever have power outages where you live be sure to ask if your gas stove top will light with a match and not just an automatic electric sparker when you turn on the gas.

So, even with the power off we have a way from 8 or 9 am until about 9 pm at night using the gas generator in my motor home to keep everything in the refrigerator refrigerated and frozen and to run the wifi, 1 or more computers, a lamp for the kitchen and sometimes a Big TV in the living room just with the gas generator in the motor home. However, after I started the generator and before I had completely unplugged the refrigerator and set up a surge protector the power went on once again and I was really grateful it wasn't going to be out for 1 to 5 days or something like that. Trees are down all over the place. The tree man couldn't remove the big acacia that fell on my fence until Monday but he removed another branch this time in the front yard that was in danger of knocking out my power to the house from the telephone pole outside. So, soon after the power went back on the house warmed up and all the lights went back on and laughter continued in the house with gratitude for family and friends who were with us.
