And so, the last vestige of secular democracy in Turkey dies likely for this century. The army was the last best hope of the Turkish people to defend their democracy from demagogues like Erdogan. Expect now a Sunni Islamic State Caliphate instead. It's sad to watch a secular democracy turn fascist. However, we may be facing the same thing here in November.
