Why is this? Because these trade deals are mostly about projecting U.S. power and they help to prevent wars. Without all these trade deals countries have more reasons to go to war with us or at least to confront us. For China, they will make their own TPP type sweet deals with all the Pacific Rim countries and thereby take over our place in the world since World War II. Oh, by the way, China will purposefully leave us out of any TPP types of deals they make with Pacific Rim countries.
So, looking at it this way Trump is only cutting off his nose to spite his face. He has no idea about how wars get started by not having good trade deals in place with many countries. If countries have a sweet trade deal brokered by the U.S. they do better and so do we from not worrying about having a war OR having a trade war with them.
