Toxic Waste Time Cover from September 22nd 1980
This cover of Time Magazine from September 22nd 1980 says it all. Though it is many times worse here in the U.S. and around the world you here less talk about it now for whatever the reasons. However, it might be important to know that 7 million people died from Air pollution in places like Iran, China, New Delhi etc just in the last year. There isn't any record that I know of of how many people have died of air pollution here in the U.S. that I know of however. But air quality is getting worse because of factories and burning coal worldwide along with burning fossil fuels made from oil and burning wood and slash and burn techniques used on farms worldwide even here in the U.S.
But if you look at this picture on this cover this is what might happen to you if you swim some places on earth not realizing what is in the waters. But, often the air is just as bad many places on earth with 7 million people dying every year now just from breathing the bad air in various places worldwide.
What I find paradoxical is the 60,000 factories that closed here in the U.S. likely has saved thousands of lives here in the U.S. since around 2001 even though it has also cost thousands their jobs as well. So, more people with breathing conditions like asthma are alive now because these factories closed in the U.S. Life is a paradox isn't it?
